Jared L. Short
President, Health Insurance Services
Jared provides oversight of major operations associated with delivering health insurance across Regence. This includes Customer Service, Claims Administration, Group and Individual Enrollment, Government Programs and the Federal Employee Program as well as Account Management, Insurance Product Development, eProducts and Services, as well as Regence Market Presidents, Health Care Services and the Regence subsidiaries of Healthcare Administrators, Inc. and Asuris Northwest Health.
Jared was named president of BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon in 2009 and was responsible for Oregon sales, provider contracting, government and community relations. He came to that position after serving as chief marketing and underwriting officer at BlueCross BlueShield of Montana.
He started at Regence in 2000 as a financial analyst. In addition to product and marketing analysis, he managed corporate research and reporting, a group responsible for research and policy development, coordination of corporate measure reporting and strategic research intended to support tactics and resource allocation. He also served as assistant director of business intelligence and led the company's consumer-directed health systems.
Jared is on the board of directors for the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Federal Employee Plan and for TriWest Healthcare Alliance. He serves on the board of directors for Trillium Family Services, the Oregon Zoo, the Portland Metropolitan area Boys & Girls Clubs and the Oregon Business Association, and serves on the Oregon Health Improvement Plan Committee.
Jared received his Bachelor of Science degree from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon.
