We recently welcomed Dr. Mike Franz to Regence as senior medical director of behavioral health. In this role, he’ll collaborate with providers to enhance the quality of care and access to innovative behavioral health offerings for Regence members across Idaho, Oregon, Utah and Washington.
“His deep knowledge and expertise in integrated behavioral health care delivery and value-based care make Dr. Franz the right choice for our members,” said Chris Blanton, Regence’s senior vice president of Commercial and Ancillary Markets and interim head of Health Care Services. “He is passionate about helping people get the best care when and where they need it most, which aligns with our mission to make behavioral health care more accessible in our communities.”
Before joining Regence, Dr. Franz served as medical director of behavioral health for PacificSource Health Plans. He’s also a founding partner of Cartesian Solutions LLC, a medical management consulting company that helps integrate behavioral health services in medical settings. Dr. Franz has over 20 years of experience in health care leadership, academic advisory and consultant roles, and clinical practice.

Franz graduated from Stanford University with honors before getting his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine. He did his general psychiatry residency and child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Oregon Health & Science University. He’s board certified in general psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He’s a fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and distinguished fellow of the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
Dr. Franz lives in Bend, Oregon with his wife and their two daughters. The family stays busy enjoying “Oregon’s big backyard,” skiing, biking, hiking and backpacking. Please join us in extending him a warm welcome.
