Hospital Quality Measurement

Hospital Quality Measurement (HQM) refers to the data sharing and display of widely-accepted and publicly-available hospital quality results. Currently, the National Doctor and Hospital Finder (NDHF) displays HQM data, including process and outcome measure results and hospital patient experience (HCAHPS) from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and most all-payer state databases. Results for vendor-developed metrics for risk-adjusted complications for medical, surgical and obstetric care and all-cause inpatient mortality are also included. The results represent the Blue standard for hospital quality transparency.

By providing our members with quality data, we are empowering our members to make informed decisions on their health care.

Our public Find a doctor tool also displays HQM data provided by the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA). Categories for hospital quality measures include:
